What this means

The Money Villain participates in affiliate programs including but not limited to: Amazon Associates, Impact, ShareASale, CJ Affiliate, Awin, and direct brand partnerships. When you click a product recommendation on our site, in our emails, or in our social content, and you make a purchase at that retailer, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you.

Why we're telling you this

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires content creators to disclose when they have a financial relationship with a product they recommend. We believe in being upfront about this because:

You deserve to know when we have skin in the game
It keeps us honest — we only recommend products we genuinely think work
It's the law (FTC 16 CFR Part 255)

How we choose what to recommend

Every product we recommend goes through this filter:

Does it actually solve the problem we're talking about?
Is there scientific evidence it works? (for health content)
Is the brand reputable and the product fairly priced?
Would we recommend it even if we weren't paid?

If a product doesn't clear all four, we don't recommend it. Period. Even if they offer us a higher commission.

What commissions look like

Commissions vary by product and program. Some examples:

Amazon: 1-4% of the purchase price
Direct brand partnerships: 5-30% of the purchase price
Financial products (credit cards, apps): $5-200 per signup/approval (paid by the bank, not by you)

You never pay more because of our affiliate relationship. Prices are identical whether you use our link or go directly to the retailer.
